Question 1

Is CELPIP the same as CLB?

Accepted Answer

Yes. CELPIP scores map directly to CLB levels on a 1:1 basis. A CELPIP score of 7 equals CLB 7. No conversion formula needed.

Question 2

What CLB level do I need for Express Entry?

Accepted Answer

Federal Skilled Worker and Canadian Experience Class (TEER 0/1) both require CLB 7 in all four skills. Higher CLB scores earn significantly more CRS points.

Question 3

What is the difference between CLB and IELTS?

Accepted Answer

CLB is the Canadian standard. CELPIP maps 1:1 to CLB. IELTS uses a different scale (1-9 bands) that converts to CLB at different rates per skill. Both are accepted for immigration.

Question 4

Does a higher CLB score help my immigration application?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Each CLB level above 7 earns significantly more CRS points. CLB 9+ in all four skills can add 80+ more CRS points than CLB 7.
